After completing her high school education at Kempner High School in Sugarland, TX, Dr. Newhook attended Baylor University in Waco, where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry in 2000. She then completed medical school in Fort Worth, receiving her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the UNT Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006.

In 2010, Dr. Newhook completed her Internship and Residency programs in General Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.

She became a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2011.
